Cast iron tea pots are not only beautiful and traditional (so much so that folks collect them as art!), they make really good tea. This is not surprising given the thousands of years of tea consumptionand veneration in Japan! The best part about cast iron teaware is that it keeps your tea warm much longer than glass or stoneware. No need for a cosy! We only have a few of these, so if you know any tea lovers (or are one yourself!) the time to pick one of these up is now.
This Joyce Chen Tetsubin Classic Cast Iron Tea Pot is in understated gunmetal black with a tiny hobnail design on the top half and around the rim of the lid. The entire interior, including the inside of the lid, is lined with a matching enamel. The spare, tapered handle is snugly hinged, so it moves but will stay where you put it. The tea pot includes a very nice wide, large stainless steel removable strainer basket, and the short, elegant spout is dripless. Even though the shape is quite compact it has a deceptively generous capacity of 24 oz. Its shape makes it easy to store, though you'll probably want to leave this out in view all the time. It's just that neat.
