Are there any fees for the purchase or use of an e-gift card?

No. You will only be charged the face value of the e-gift card upon purchase. There is no fee for use of the e-gift card and no fee charged for card inactivity.

Does the e-gift card have an expiration date?

No. E-gift cards do not have an expiration date.

Can I add value to an e-gift card after I've purchased it?

No. After purchase, value cannot be added to an e-gift card.

Where can I use my e-gift card?

You can use your e-gift card only at It may not be used in Zabar's retail store.

How do I purchase an e-gift card?

Follow the e-gift card link at to the e-gift card order page. Specify the recipient email address, the e-gift card amount, and the date when you'd like the e-gift card to be sent. Click “Add to Shopping Bag” and continue to checkout.

How do I use my e-gift card towards online purchases?

When at the “Billing” page during online checkout, enter your e-gift card number to apply the e-gift card balance against the order total. You may also check your e-gift card balance on the checkout “Billing” page by choosing “Check e-gift card balance”.

How do I check my e-gift card balance?

To check your e-gift card balance, follow the “Gift Card” link at and enter your e-gift card code under “Check Gift Card Balance.”

Do I have to spend the exact balance on my e-gift card?

No. If your purchase amount is less than the value of the e-gift card, you can use the remaining balance towards your next online purchase. If your purchase amount is greater than the card balance, you will need to provide additional payment with a credit card or another e-gift card.

How do I cancel the purchase of an e-gift card?

If you chose a delivery date in the future, you can cancel your purchase by contacting Zabar's customer service (see below). If the delivery date is today or has passed, your purchase cannot be cancelled.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept VISA, MasterCard, and American Express. A e-gift card purchase cannot be made with another e-gift card.

When is my credit card charged for my purchase?

Your credit card is charged on the date you selected to have the e-gift card sent to the recipient.

When is the e-gift card sent to the recipient?

An e-gift card notification email is sent to the recipient on the date you choose to have the e-gift card delivered when purchasing the e-gift card, or on the current day if you do not choose a date.

What does the recipient receive when I send an e-gift card?

On the delivery date you choose, an email notification of the e-gift card is sent to the gift recipient. This email contains an activation link which activates the card and displays the e-gift card number.

How do I know the recipient received the e-gift card I sent?

You will receive an email notification when the e-gift card is sent to the recipient. You will receive another email notification of the e-gift card activation when it is activated by the recipient.

Can I buy an e-gift card for myself?

Yes. Enter your own email address as the e-gift card recipient. Complete the transaction normally. When you receive your e-gift card alert via email, follow the instructions in this message to activate and redeem your e-gift card.

What if I lose my e-gift card number?

What if my e-gift card number is stolen?

Please protect your e-gift card number. If you suspect that someone has copied or stolen your e-gift card, please contact Zabar's customer service (see below).
